For the last few months I’ve been monitoring a number of Twitter accounts for my friends and associates. I can’t decide if Twitter sucks or it’s a valuable social networking medium.
A few reasons why I like Twitter:
You can engage like-minded folks and actually Network. If your Tweets are responsible and serve to actually benefit your Followers without a sales pitch in every Tweet, you can generate traffic and buzz. You can enhance your image if you use Twitter responsibly. I have seen valuable relationships developed, which would have never occurred without Twitter.
A few reasons why Twitter sucks:
Over 75% of the Direct Messages (DM) is Spam and Scams. Wild claims, junk products and services. Everyone is an expert. NOT! They are easy to spot because they are “Bot” generated and rarely use your name. Get a life folks! 20 Tweets in four hours is over the top. Especially if your trying to sell me “snake oil”. Many of these Tweets are generated by a “Bot” and easy to spot since the wording is exactly the same. Mark my words, the new FTC Guides are guaranteed to hammer these low life Tweeters into the ground. It can’t happen soon enough.
I’m going to give Twitter some additional time to evolve and then make up my mind. Hate my guts? Love me? Follow me on Twitter.
